Open Peer Review and Debate

Authors: you can have your working papers read and discussed almost immediately.

Readers: you can take part in an international peer discussion of working papers submitted to the International Journal of Psychoanalysis before formal peer review and selection.

What's more, you can also read the formal peer reviews of working papers.

For the first time in the history of psychoanalytic articles, you are able to view working papers submitted to the International Journal of Psychoanalysis before peer review and before the process of development and selection. You are invited to join in a peer discussion of those papers and to see the reports of the formal reviewers.

How to register

An ‘opt-out’ option is ¬†available, although we believe authors will welcome the opportunity of high level international discussion of their papers. The working paper will not be posted anonymously unless the author chooses this option.

IJP Open is an online site for working papers. The papers do not constitute final ‘publication’.

In most fields, it is now standard for authors to publish working papers in advance of being accepted in mainstream journals. IJP Open provides a unique opportunity for a high level international discussion of papers in their first submitted version. Working papers on IJP Open will not be indexed on PEP and will not come up in searches.

Papers and comments will be removed from IJP Open after 8 months from submission, unless a paper has been accepted within that time and the author wishes to remain on the site. IJP Open papers do not therefore constitute ‘published papers’.

IJP Open is for the benefit of authors and readers and is here to enhance critical thinking via a respectful and sensitive engagement with authors. It is a discussion launch pad for working papers and eventual publication in the International Journal.

For final published papers please continue to visit the website of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis at
